Welcome. Here, you will find a gentle and supportive space to explore your journey toward healing, growth, and wholeness. It is my honor and passion to offer restorative and contemplative evidence-based care blended with mindfulness and deep presence; nurturing your strengths and helping you reconnect, heal and restore.

I specialize in supporting children, adults, and families through life’s most tender and challenging seasons. Some of my areas of expertise are:

-Supporting clients through grief and loss

-Helping ease anxiety and nurture a greater sense of calm

-Guiding those with ADHD and executive functioning challenges toward practical tools and balance

-Working with children while coaching parents for collaborative growth and healing

-Helping individuals find peace and grounding in difficult and uncertain times.

As both a counselor and coach, I provide a compassionate and grounded space for healing, clarity, and growth.

Counseling or Coaching??

Mental health counseling focuses on helping people heal from emotional pain, trauma, and mental health challenges. It often involves exploring the past, understanding patterns, and working through issues like anxiety, depression, grief, or relationship struggles. Counseling is a clinical service and may be covered by insurance. I accept medicaid and medicare.

Coaching, on the other hand, is future-focused and goal-oriented. It’s about helping you move forward, build clarity, and take empowered steps toward your vision. Coaching is great for people who want support with life transitions, creativity, decision-making, or personal growth — even if they are not in crisis.

Both can be deeply transformative. The key difference is that counseling helps you heal and coaching helps you grow — and sometimes, the two can beautifully overlap.

Who decides??

We do!

The best way to decide whether counseling or coaching is right for you will be determined at our FREE 30 minute consult. This consult and future sessions can be done virtually or in person at one of my two offices.

*Please do note, while I can coach clients from out of state, counseling clients must reside in Pennsylvania.

Hi, I’m Barbara Gettes — a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Wellness Coach offering trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, and holistic support for individuals, families, and children. As a single mom with ADHD, I bring lived experience, compassion, and deep understanding to the people I work with. I love supporting fellow neuro-spicy creatives, highly sensitive souls, and those navigating the windy and sometimes bumpy roads of life. My practice is culturally sensitive, LGBTQ+ affirming (and allied).. and is a safe, inclusive space to be your full self. Whether you’re moving through grief, anxiety, life transitions, or relationship patterns that no longer serve you, I’m here to walk alongside you. And when I say walk.. sometimes we will actually walk (at a park or in nature). Sometimes I will even meet your child or teen at home or at their favorite cafe. I take sincere pleasure of meeting you where you are. The work we do is a safe place for finding clarity, calm, and a more grounded way of being. Some of my my areas of focus are anxiety, grief, trauma, ending toxic relationships (co-dependency and narcissistic abuse), career counseling, gentle parenting and spirituality. I offer both coaching and counseling. I have a Master degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and over a decade of experience coaching and consulting with individuals, families and in schools. I am person centered and integrate CBT and positive psychology into my practice. I am a deep listener and believe in collaboration in both the clinical and coaching work that I do. I look forward to expanding my scope of practice with various trainings as I am able.

We might make a great fit if…

You are going through a transition .You are going through betrayal trauma. You are anxious. You are grieving. You are breaking cycles of unhealthy relaionships. You have ADHD and are ready to COMMIT to change. You are neuro-spicy. You have a high conflict divorce. You want to be a more gentle parent. You are transitioning careers. The world has got you down. You would love for your child to have some play and art therapy. You (and your children) are in recovery of narcissistic abuse and would appreciate strengthening your skills of boundary setting and shifting mindset. You are ready to make positive changes in your life and are ready to do the work. Please note that my private counseling and coaching sessions are primarily out of pocket. However in hopes of making therapy and counseling accessible for all I can accept medicaid and medicare for my counseling clients. I also offer a generous need-based sliding scale if finances are an issue.
